We are excited to open a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in a DBT-funded project to investigate the role of S-acylation (palmitoylation) of synaptic proteins in regulating neuronal hyperexcitability.

Project Title: Role of activity-induced palmitate cycling on PSD-95 in epilepsy

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate interested in identifying molecular mechanisms underlying the adaptability and fragility of neuronal synapses. The project aims to determine the dynamic interplay of reversible palmitoylation of the postsynaptic scaffold protein, PSD-95, and abnormal network activity using in vitro and in vivo models.

The research combines:

The candidate will join a young and vibrant research group with access to state-of-the-art facilities and opportunity to advance our mechanistic understanding of epilepsy and other neurological disorders arising from neuronal hyperexcitability.
